Congregational Meeting: The annual meeting scheduled for Dec. 6 has been postponed. This kind of meeting would qualify as an “event” under the Monroe County Health Department’s guidelines for in-person gatherings, currently capped at 50 attendees. This number is below what is necessary to achieve quorum at our meeting. In the absence of a business meeting to approve the Missions budget and confirm nominees, the Board has decided on the following course of action in order to continue important church ministries:

  1. ECC will maintain its financial commitments to missionaries. The Missions Committee will continue funding all current missionaries according to the level approved for 2020. We ask that individuals who have made pledges toward the 2021 Missions budget begin making their donations as planned.
  2. All deacons, elders, and Nominating Committee members with expiring terms will cycle off their respective committees as required.
  3. As provided for by ECC’s Constitution and Governing Rules Manual, and upon the request of the chair of the deacons, the Board of Elders will appoint temporary deacons using the list of 2021 deacon nominees as a guide.
  4. The Board of Elders are determining if temporary elders may be appointed or if the Board must operate with reduced membership until new members can be confirmed by the congregation. We will update you after our meeting on December 3.
  5. The Nominating Committee will continue to operate, but with reduced membership, until the congregation is able to confirm new members.

We hope to be able to schedule an in-person congregational business meeting early next year, but we are also exploring other options for conducting church business while staying in compliance with ECC’s Constitution and Governing Rules Manual.
