The "SHACK" for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders

J-Crazies:
Is an intensely high-energy program that focuses on building that solid relationship with Christ and others. There are plenty of snacks, great games to play, and good conversation about biblical topics. Come and join us every Wednesday night from 6:30pm-8pm in the “Shack”.

What we are learning @ Jcrazies:                                                                                                 It has been such a great three weeks in Jcrazies learning about prayer. I short we broke the lords prayer down and looked at what Jesus was really trying to make important and sacred when it came to talking to His Father. Then we looked at what prayer was…the definition if you will. We learned that is was communicating through speaking desires, concerns, hopes, dreams, adoration; as well as listening to God’s will, scripture, one’s heart and others prayers. Then we engaged in practicing prayer. As a Junior high student, prayer can be kind of awkward, and that’s ok. The great thing is that we created an awkward experience to invite middle school student into and learned the basics of prayer. We actually reviewed the A.C.T.S. prayer with the students and then broke out into groups to pray each letter.  If you are not familiar with this concept A.C.T.S. stands for Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication. It was really cool to see us all gather into different groups and pray with these prayer prompts in mind.

This week we continue spiritual disciplines and talk about fasting.

Here are some follow up questions you could ask your student or yourself in regards to prayer.       1. How can you make A.C.T.S. apart of your daily routine?       2. What is an area of prayer you like?    3. Would it help if we find a prayer book, journal, guide for you...?

Sunday Morning Blast:
Meets at 9:30am on Sunday mornings in the “Shack”. At SMB we dig into God's Word and chew through what God has to say about the decisions we're making. This semester's focus is on the New Testament.

What we are learning @ SMB                                                                                                  What is the church? What are the sacraments? These are the questions we are tackling in the H.C. We are looking at the great commission and the direction Jesus gives the disciples at the end of his ministry concerning the gathering and the working out of “being his witnesses.” We are also looking at how the intentional actions of growing the church, and being apart of the church correspond with the two sacraments, Baptism and Holy Communion. Church life and community is supposed to be intimate and encouraging. Are we living that out as middle school students? Are we living that out as adults? These are things one must look out as we fall deeper in love with Jesus bride, the C(c)hurch.
