As part of the larger church, Adult Community Groups are mid-sized communities of Christ-followers who are committed to receiving, equipping, and sending disciples into the world.
ACGs provide a wonderful opportunity to connect with others, enjoy fellowship, and learn in community. There is a diverse selection of classes offered.
Below is a list of the ACG's and their current topics.
8:15am
The Cracked Pots, Starting 8.28.11
Starting Jan 8th, Rm 17 (also meeting at 9:30am). Don Forss will be leading the class in an exploration of Paul’s letter to the troubled Corinthian Church. 1 Corinthians is a highly relevant portion of Scripture, with lessons to be learned regarding how Christians are to relate to a pagan culture, divisions in the church, spiritual gifts, the Lord’s Supper, and matters of personal morality. Join the Cracked Pots for this study!
9:30am
The Belayers, Starting 9.11.11
Starting Jan 8th, in Rm 18, Dan Waugh will lead a 7-week discussion on “What Comes Next”. The class will discuss what the Bible has to say about death, about what happens after death, resurrection, heaven, hell, and more. We’ll consider those big questions and how we ought to live practically in light of what the Bible teaches.
Poiema, Starting 9.11.11
Starting Jan 8th, in Rm 14/15 David MacKay will lead a 7-week long look at NT Wright and his hugely influential body of work. Wright is arguably the most influential theologian living today and has done amazing work on the historical Jesus and been the lightning rod of a lot of controversy on Paul. Come learn from and engage in dialogue with this important church figure.
Cracked Pots.
Room 17 (see description under the 8:30 hour).
11:00am,
Hispanic Ministry, Starting 8.28.11
Room 17. A great team of people leads this ACG, including Berta and Andres Chopite. This team of teachers leads the group in studies on various topics throughout the year and the whole group enjoys the fellowship.
Koinonia, Starting 9.11.11
Starting Jan 8th, in Rm 18, John Mangrum will help the Koinonia ACG consider the topic “Same Sex Attraction: Responding with Compassion and Truth.” Homosexuality is one of the most controversial topics of our day, and many are watching our response very closely. Sadly, the response of the church has often been one of silence, defensiveness, or insensitivity. Our goal this semester will be to develop a deeper understanding of homosexuality and to consider ways of responding to the issues and people involved that are both Biblical and caring.
