Our Leadership
Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.
1 Corinthians 12:27
Each one of us is a part of Christ's Body at ECC. All of us have God-given spiritual gifts that are to be used in harmony with one another as we seek to glorify God.
Some, however, are called to more "visible" positions of servant leadership (see Core Values #8: Leadership as Service). We encourage you to pray for these men and women as they seek to honor God with their gifts. If you would like a listing of the current leadership, please contact the church office.
Pastors
The pastors, together with the elders, oversee the spiritual life of the church. They preach the Word of God, administer the ordinances, engage in visitation, and instruct others to become undershepherds of the church. The senior pastor serves as an ex-officio member of all church boards and committees except the Nominating Committee and the Budget Committee.
Elders
Elders exercise government and discipline, and assume the spiritual oversight of the church. It is their responsibility to watch over and care for those who have committed themselves to their charge by membership, and also to demonstrate interest in, and support of, those who are not members but regularly attend. They exercise their teaching gifts in the ministry of the Word and guard from corruption of doctrine and morals. The elders oversee all the affairs that take place in the name of the church, including those duties delegated to the directors, deacons, treasurer, and any other officers, committees, and staff.
Ministry Staff
Other staff necessary for the ministry of the church are employed by the Board of Elders, or by a board or committee to which the task has been delegated. Current staff ministry positions include: Director of Children's Ministries, Director of Youth Ministries, Music Director, Pianist, Secretary, and Custodian.
Deacons
The Board of Deacons minister to the sick, and to those in need or distress. They administer the Deacon's Fund to meet emergency financial needs of members and friends of the church. They may assume other responsibilities appropriate to their office, or as requested by the elders.
Directors
The Board of Directors has power to acquire, hold, and dispose of real and personal property of this corporation, and has full power and authority to borrow money and execute its notes and/or bonds and to secure the same by mortgage or other encumbrance upon its real or personal property as directed by the church or by the Board of Elders. This board is responsible for the finances and all property of the church, and is responsible to the Board of Elders.
Missions
The Missions Committee supervises the missions program of the church. The Missions Committee: (1) develops an annual missions budget; (2) plans an annual missions conference; (3) maintains contact with missionaries and other Christian workers supported by the church; (4) fosters missionary concern and involvement in the church.
